He is a recognized world leader and expert in the field of environmentally sustainable and culturally relevant design. Her grandmother, Helen Jeffreys Bakhtiar, a public health worker in Iran during the s, was honored by the nomadic Bakhtiari tribe, who named a mountain after her.
