At the age of 17, as he lay on a deathbed suffering from tuberculosis, he received a vision. Suspended in midair to the right of his bed was a casket; on his left was a large open Bible. When Lester Sumrall awoke the next morning, he was completely healed and served the Lord for sixty-five years. During his life he penned sumrall biography books.

He was diagnosed with tuberculosis, a veritable death sentence. He continued to worsen and dropped to 93 pounds and become bedridden. Once more his mother called her prayer warriors together to regularly pray for Lester.
On his seventeenth birthday the doctor declared he was about to die and even wrote the death certificate. In the night God gave Lester a vision. Subsequent to experiencing a vocation finishing injury, Sumrall continued training at Alma College, Kentucky.
